July 4th Parade News & Events

Thousands of people line the streets of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota for their annual 4th of July Parade celebration.  As a result, for the last few years the children (Kids Alive) and student ministries (CPR) of Northridge Church have teamed up to represent Jesus Christ at this event.

How?—Through a unique parade float.  It starts with our CPR ambulance pulling a car-hauler.  On front half of the trailer is a puppet stage.  The back half of the trailer is the platform for the instruments of the CPR praise team.  Here a group of Northridge students and leaders plays and sings live music as the float makes its way down the route.  Finally, following behind the actual float is a human video team from CPR.  These students present a moving drama set to music for the people gathered at the parade.

Consequently, as the parade begins the ambulance begins to roll with lights flashing.  The elements of puppets songs, live praise, and human video are rotated throughout the length of the parade.  Finally, Northridge students and adults walk near the crowds of people handing out candy and small Frisbees promoting Jesus Christ and giving information about Northridge Church .

Lastly, this parade outreach has made an opportunity for students to take steps of faith in publicly confessing Jesus Christ as Lord.  In addition, it also gives Northridge an opportunity to be a light for Jesus Christ to numbers of people that the church would otherwise never come in contact with.  However, most importantly, it is an attempt to be about the work of the Kingdom of God and the will of the Father in heaven.
